Pamukkale Again

Tuesday April 1, 2014, Pamukkale
A picture from yesterday taken from the necropolis or cemetery hill where there are thousands of stone sarcophagi.
We really didn't need another day at Pamukkale. The travertines and Hierapolis can be seen in one day. However, it didn't hurt to have a day to research, plan and book our accommodations over the next few weeks. Once we had Easter weekend booked on Naxos Island and a flight from Izmir, Turkey to Athens next Sunday, we knew what we had to do in between. So, this morning we took several hours to book hotels in Athens (near the Acropolis), Delphi, Athens again (near the Piraeus ferry port) and 5 days on the island of Mykonos. We couldn't do all this without the internet but it still takes time. While I tried different options and made lists of potential hotels, Anita caught up on the laundry. Once we had the information, we made our decisions and did the bookings.
Then we went down the street and booked our bus tickets to Selcuk (that's "Spellcheck" in Anita's world) near Ephesus where we're going tomorrow. The tickets cost 25 lira ($12.50) each for a van ride to Denizli and a 3 hour bus ride to Selcuk.
This afternoon we took a walk up the hill in the countryside south of the travertines.
Afterward, we relaxed in the sun for awhile in the little park at the bottom of the travertines.
It must have been in the mid 20s Celsius today and even hotter in the sun. The nights and early mornings are still cool but the afternoons have been warm and sunny.
We have to leave our hotel tomorrow morning by 7:45 am and walk less than 5 minutes down the hill to the bus ticket office to catch the van. We're looking forward to Ephesus.
