Early tomorrow morning, we'll drive to Gatineau to leave our car with family. One of our sons will drive us to the Ottawa airport where we'll fly to Toronto in the evening. At 9:20 pm we'll fly directly from Toronto to Delhi, India. With the 14 hour flight and 10 1/2 hour time change, we'll arrive in Delhi at 9:40 pm on Thursday, February 9th.
A driver from our hotel is supposed to pick us up. Our hotel, the Prime Balaji Deluxe @ New Delhi Railway Station is in the central Paharganj area. We're wondering if it will be more chaotic than downtown Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, which is probably the most chaotic place we've been - more chaotic than Beijing, Shanghai or Bangkok. We'll see.

On Wednesday morning, since we were up before 5 am, we left home by 7:30 am. Hopefully that's the last time we'll have to scrape ice off the car this winter. After a quick stop in Renfrew to get a new watch (the watch I bought in Peru last year gave up on Tuesday), we drove to Gatineau for our first look at our new grandson, Noah, born on Tuesday afternoon. After lunch with Zack, Annie, Maia and Annie's mother, Zack drove us to the airport. We were there in plenty of time for our 5 pm flight and so managed to get on the 3pm to Toronto.
Since we had about 5 hours until our departure time to Delhi at 9:20 pm, I tried to figure out the changes to the photo upload system to Blogger. After much frustration, I finally gave up. I think because Blogger is owned by Google, there has been a choice not to synchronize with Apple photo programs or Picasa web albums. Until I make this work somehow, we won't be posting any photos.
Our flight was delayed until 10 pm but boarding and so on took so long that we actually didn't leave until 11 pm. Because of that, we were late arriving in Delhi, getting here at 10:40 pm instead of 9:40 pm. That's about 13 hours in the air plus 10 1/2 hours difference in time.
Luckily, after about an hour waiting for our luggage and getting some Indian rupees, we went out the front door of the airport and the driver from our hotel was still waiting there. It was about a 40 minute drive to our hotel. Check-in was quick and, after a hot shower, we were in bed by 1:30am, or 3 pm Combermere time.

It's 5 am and I slept from 8 pm to 12:30 am. Jet lag. Now the dogs are barking so it must be morning. Yesterday, we had breakfast in our hotel and then arranged for a city tour for today. A car and driver for the day will cost us 2,000 rupees (about $40 Canadian). We walked around the Paharganj area yesterday. It's about as busy as Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam but dirtier. We're 5 minutes from the main train station so the main streets are chaos all the time. At least our hotel is on a little side street. If we hadn't been to Southeast Asia before, we'd probably be overwhelmed by the poverty, chaos and scam artists in your face all the time. We're fine with it but it's not exactly relaxing.
We ate at a little vegetarian restaurant near the main bazaar. It was recommended in Lonely Planet and seemed clean. Veggie burgers and fries hit the spot after an Indian breakfast of tasty yet stomach rumbling beans, samosas and other miscellaneous dishes.
Anita slept a little more than I did but it's still going to be a tiring day for both of us. At least I think I figured out how to upload photos. This Blogger program allows me to upload photos from our phone, which we don't have, but it thinks this iPad mini is our phone. Since we didn't take any pictures yesterday, we'll see if this works tomorrow.
